It’s going to be tedious to open and click on all the 1700 people’s profiles.
That’s a good point. What if the system attempted to automatically match as many people in your tree as it could to people in FamilySearch? If you discovered that the system matched someone in your tree to the wrong person in FamilySearch, you could unmatch that person. Would that be better than a batch job, or would you rather have the control of matching everyone yourself in a batch job?
I really don’t know. 
Automated matching sounds good. Most of my profiles have identical counterparts in FamilyTree.
In that case an automated matching should work very well
